Interview Scheduling Software - Candidate Experience

image

Interview scheduling tools are different. This is good because everyone has different interview scheduling needs.  Here are questions to help decide which interview scheduling tool is right for you:

  • How simple is it to use?
  • What is the interview scheduling experience like for your candidates?
  • How much does it cost and what is the pricing model?

Is any interview scheduling software going to meet everyone’s needs based on these questions? Probably not. But since we have already looked at the first question (interview scheduler complexity), let’s now talk about the experience of the candidate.

Interview Scheduling and Candidate Experience

Candidate experience matters.  It’s important to understand your candidate pools and their comfort level with technology before you start firing interview invitations at them via their mobile devices (assuming they have any).

When scheduling interviews for older candidates, you may find that they don't have the same comfort with an emailed interview invitation as younger candidates. Also, they may be less likely to be carrying their iPhone around with them at all day. If so, will you end up fielding phone calls from candidates anyway? If you are scheduling interviews for students or positions that attract younger applicants, an online interview scheduling tool is the answer. For older or less technical candidates, you may need to reconsider. At the very least, with the less technical candidate pool you will want to ensure that the process is as simple as possible for them to use.

Even technical candidates prefer a fast and simple tool they can use with their smartphone in one hand. Interviewer Assistant is designed so that you can choose an interview date and time in as few clicks as possible. Afterall, the value of an interview scheduling tool is to simplify the process and reduce the need for follow-up phone calls. Features like automatic customizable confirmations make the candidate experience that much better.

Lastly, in terms of candidate’s experience is the issue of look and feel.  What does this mean? When your candidates use the interview scheduling tool, they should feel, and it should look like, they are interacting with your organization and not the interview scheduling company’s website.  Interviewer Assistant is designed to allow you to customize your invitation page, invites and confirmation notices for exactly this reason. We have minimized our use of logos and absolutely refuse to consider allowing third party advertising to get between you and your future employees.

We may not be living in a world where you can stop booking all your interviews by phone, but that day.  Some candidate pools and recruitment situations may require doing things the old way a little longer.  But you can certainly start your move into online interview scheduling now as long as you pay attention to the impact on your candidates and use the interview scheduler that treats your candidates the way you would treat them. This concept is easy and straight forward for anyone who is considering an interview scheduler, but not as straight forward are the pricing models you will need to consider. Let's look at that next blog post.
